Membership

Have you paid your CPEA membership for 2009? If not please do so as maintenance of the estate is a costly business and EVERYONE should contribute.

Standing order forms

The membership fee is £75 and if you still haven't adjusted your standing order please do so. Standing Order forms are available from the Treasurer and we would appreciate it if you could complete this form as soon as possible as we all know how long it takes to set up these new /amended instructions.

Thank you

Welcome to the website of the Canons Park Estate Association.

The Canons Park Estate was created during the late 1920's and early '30's on land purchased from the sale of the Canons Estate, which was broken up due to the bankruptcy of its owner, Sir Arthur du Cros (see a fuller version of the history of the Estate by clicking on the 'History' button).

The Canons Park Estate - or 'Canons Drive Estate' as it is more familiarly known - comprises around 340 houses and 66 flats, and is acknowledged locally as being the most desirable place to live in Edgware, with people waiting up to two or three years to buy houses here.

The Estate is a little oasis of calm in the centre of bustling Edgware. The majority of the houses were built in typical Tudor style and many sit on the fringes of the 'Basin' (the large pond in Canons Drive which is populated by ducks and geese) and the 'Seven Acre Lake' -
a private lake with fishing and boating facilities, which is only accessible to CPEA members.

For some years now, the Estate has been listed as one of Harrow Council's conservation areas, which means that the appearance and maintenance of the houses and streets is strictly controlled, as are the trees and grass verges. Surplus Land (Canons) Ltd owns the Gate Piers at the entrance to Canons Drive, the verges and pond along Canons Drive and the Seven Acre Lake. These properties were all surplus to the builders' requirements and were therefore given to the residents, to be managed by the Canons Park Estate Association. The CPEA is also responsible for the general maintenance of facilities on the Estate and for fostering good relations between neighbours by organising occasional social events and campaigning for improvements such as better parking and security.

The Association publishes its own newsletter twice a year, which is distributed to all households and carries advertising opportunities for local businesses and services.

Membership of the CPEA is open to all householders on the Estate, including residents of the Lodge Close flats on the corner of Canons Drive. The cost of membership is only £75 per year and carries a number of benefits, which can be reviewed by clicking onto the 'Membership' button.
